Who and what is MLD?

Mlada liberalna demokracija mLD (Young liberal democracy) is the rising generation of Slovene political party entitled Liberalna demokracija Slovenije LDS (Liberal Democracy of Slovenia). We are proud to be members of the rising generation of the party that has contributed so much to the development of Slovenia and its incorporation into the family of European nations. The members of mLD started the story of success in February 1991 and still carry it on today. The members are engaging themselves on the national and the local level, we are taking an active role in the work of the central party and are mutually connected with related foreign organisations.

We strive for a liberal, tolerant and progressive society in which each and every individual has a chance to realize his potentials, regardless of his/her religious, sexual, ethnical, ideological or any other belief or orientation. We are certain that Young Liberal Democracy has knowledge and experience, sense of responsibility and competent people, is the organisation which provides the best solutions to the challenges of the future.

mLD is a proud member of few international organisations as IFLRY, LYMEC, ISEEL and UNITED for Intercultural Action.

Our programme is based on positive tradition of democracy and liberalism:

• respecting human rights and human dignity;
• civilized society as society of liberty and free-thinking individuals;
• legal state;
• politics of equal chances;
• preventing all kind of discrimination;
• free economy and social state;
• free ownership and enterprising;
• cultural identity and plural cultural expression;
• environment protection in all fields of existence, particularly for ecological orientation, political economy and consolidation of ecological consciousness.

Why us?

It is essential to us what society we live in. We do not want to be neutral observers of the events going on around us, we would like to influence on them with our views and ideas. We believe that we can contribute to a better society and a better world for all of us.

We realize that youth is not just a part of life; it is a state of mind. People do not age with year; we age by sacrificing our ideals. We are as young as our faith in the future and as old as our doubts.

mLD strives for Green Public Procurement which means that public purchasers take account of environmental factors when buying products, services or works.

mLD strives for a politics and society which enables and stimulates incorporation and equal starting point on the path of the success. We want society that enables the transition from lower to higher social class and dismiss social vulnerability and poverty.

All our current activities are cooperated with local branches which carry out many local projects.
